NEW YORK — Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) is implementing price reductions on nearly 2,000 home and apparel accessories items. This move aims to strengthen the retailer's competitive position and capture increased market share as the holiday shopping season commences. The latest price adjustments build on more than 10,000 price reductions Target has already executed over the past year.
Specific examples of these price drops include women's tees, now available for $12. Shoes average $35, and queen comforters are reduced to $69. Some items will sell for 20 percent or more below their prices from last year, directly addressing consumer demand for affordability.
Cara Sylvester, Target's executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, affirmed the company's strategy. Sylvester said guests seek great products at a great value, a core element of Target's daily offering. She said the continued price reductions make it easier for busy families to create moments of joy this fall.
The timing of these reductions is critical, coinciding with the start of holiday gifting and fall style shopping. Consumers are actively looking to stretch their budgets, and Target directly addresses this demand. This initiative aims to draw shoppers into its more than 2,000 U.S. stores and online platforms.
In addition to the new price cuts, Target offers further savings through its Target Circle loyalty program. Members can access extra deals during Target Circle Deal Days, scheduled for Oct. 6-7. Joining Target Circle is free and accessible via Target.com, the Target app or in-store checkout lanes.
These price adjustments are not universally applied across all locations. The program specifically excludes purchases made in Alaska and Hawaii. Product availability and promotions may also vary by location and on Target.com.
Target's consistent focus on value reflects a competitive retail environment. The company employs more than 400,000 team members and serves millions of families weekly. Its strategy prioritizes affordability and design across its distinct assortment to drive traffic and sales.
The board of directors of Target Corporation recently declared a quarterly dividend of $1.16 per common share. This dividend is payable in December. The company maintains its commitment to shareholder returns alongside its customer-focused pricing initiatives.
