Bitcoin's price has stalled below an on-chain supply cluster, with the $84,000 to $85,000 range representing the heaviest concentration of long-term holder coins. This price band holds more dormant Bitcoin than any other, according to on-chain data.
The cryptocurrency recently rebounded to trade near $84,000 after falling to a seven-day low of $82,500 early Monday. This recovery follows a second sell-off that dragged the price below $82,600 around 1:40 a.m. ET.
Despite a nearly 1 percent daily decline, Bitcoin remains up more than 7 percent for the month. The asset achieved its best weekly close since Jan. boosted by spot exchange-traded funds recording their largest weekly inflows since Oct. 2025.
River Financial data indicates a Bitcoin supply shock, with 81 percent of circulating BTC unmoved for at least six months. This metric shows long-term holders are keeping their coins off the market, contributing to a tighter active supply.
Only 3.7 million BTC are currently in active float, while 16.3 million BTC are dormant. Long-term holders have accumulated more than 3 million BTC since 2020, further solidifying their positions and reducing available supply on exchanges.
On the derivatives front, Bitcoin's price movements over the past 24 hours liquidated nearly $92 million in long positions, compared to $33.5 million in short positions. Across the broader crypto economy, $398 million in long leveraged positions were wiped out against $132 million in short positions.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $2.39 billion last week, pushing year-to-date flows for 2026 back into positive territory. These inflows reversed a mid-July deficit that saw net flows at minus $5.7 billion.
Bitfinex analysts said the $2.38 billion in weekly ETF inflows marked the largest such event since the week ending Oct. 10, 2025. This demand absorbed approximately 27,800 BTC over the week, a volume equivalent to two months of new Bitcoin issuance.
For the current rally to extend, Bitcoin's price must break through and sustain above the $84,000 to $85,000 long-term holder supply cluster. This level represents a critical on-chain resistance point that buyers need to overcome.
