Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, announced a new industry-wide initiative for artificial intelligence safety, stating on X today, Monday, September 28, 2026, that Nvidia, alongside “over 100 industry partners,” had “introduced the NVIDIA Open Agent Safety Platform, bringing together OpenShell and Sentry.” Huang emphasized that AI’s extraordinary potential for advancing “discovery, productivity, security, health, and prosperity for generations to come” can only be fully realized when “people have confidence that AI is being built to be safe and deployed with wisdom and responsibility.” He described this platform as “bigger than a single product,” calling it “the beginning of an open ecosystem to build the trust layer for safe agent systems.” Huang concluded by asserting that “Trust and innovation are not in conflict. Safety is how trust is earned. We must build not only the most capable AI, but the most trusted AI, so that this extraordinary technology can realize its enormous promise for the world.”

Nvidia’s initiative follows a period of heightened industry focus on artificial intelligence security and responsible development, including the company's own efforts to integrate security deeper into its AI stack. The launch of the Open Agent Safety Platform comes during recent reports of security vulnerabilities impacting AI applications, such as the widely reported Hugging Face breach. Nvidia stock is currently trading at $225.07, up 0.2% today. The company's significant growth in the AI sector has seen its valuation surpass other tech giants.

Huang’s statement implies that widespread adoption and long-term economic growth for artificial intelligence hinge on establishing robust safety protocols and public trust, particularly for advanced agent systems. He views this collaborative approach to building a “trust layer” as a fundamental requirement for the “AI economy,” suggesting that innovation must be paired with demonstrable safety and responsibility. This position indicates Nvidia's strategic emphasis on governance and ethical deployment as critical drivers of future value in the AI domain.
