XRP currently sits near $1.55 with five days remaining until the Sept. 30 settlement on Kalshi's September contract targeting $1.70. The "above $1.70" contract trades at 32 cents—down from 36 cents a day earlier—implying a one-in-three chance. Each contract pays $1 if XRP reaches the target.

XRP needs a 9.8 percent gain from its current level to clear $1.70 before 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept. 30. Higher strikes carry bleaker odds: the $1.80 line trades at 19 cents, while the $2.00 and $2.10 lines each sit near 7 cents. Approximately 10,870 contracts remain open on the $1.70 strike, with roughly 46,650 total contracts traded since the market opened Sept. 1.

The cooling in contract pricing reflects XRP's struggles this week. Bitcoin stalled near $84,000 after failing to clear $87,000, and XRP's pullbacks have consistently tracked Bitcoin's moves. The asset tagged $1.64 on Sept. 23—its month high—before retreating toward $1.50. Despite the recent bounce, Santiment data shows the average long-term XRP trader is down 11.75 percent on a 365-day basis.

Kalshi's settlement mechanism uses CF Benchmarks' XRP reference rate, calculated as a per-minute average that strips out the top and bottom 20 percent of prices. A brief spike on a single exchange will not trigger settlement; XRP must sustain the target level long enough to influence the trimmed average.

Earlier in September, Kalshi's $1.40 strike settled positively on Sept. 3, followed by the $1.50 strike on Sept. 21 and the $1.60 strike on Sept. 22. XRP had swung from $1.41 to $1.61 between Sept. 21 and Sept. 22 alone. A mid-month pullback to $1.26 led to a payout on the "below $1.30" contract on Sept. 15.

Institutional demand has shown limited firepower. U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds registered $22.65 million in inflows on Sept. 25, led by Bitwise, but these flows have not generated enough momentum to sustain XRP above $1.60. An additional headwind: $157 million in XRP stolen during the Bitget hack remains in wallets inaccessible to freezing, adding market uncertainty.

Longer-dated Kalshi markets signal more confidence in a rally. The 2026 contract for XRP to top $2.00 rose to 59 cents from 53 cents a day earlier. The $2.50 line climbed to 33 cents from 26 cents, and the $3.00 line moved to 24 cents from 19 cents. This mirrors Bitcoin's pattern: traders are backing a December year-end push toward $100,000 while pricing out a September spike to $90,000. The market is front-loading conviction into the fourth quarter rather than betting on immediate moves.
