ISTANBUL — Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov outlined the joint stance of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia on global conflicts and regional stability at a trilateral meeting here.
Bayramov said the three countries maintain consistent positions in two areas. First, they respect international law and work through international organizations to address conflicts. The nations also contribute to mediation efforts, including both public and private diplomatic channels, he said.
Second, Bayramov noted that global conflicts disrupt energy security and supply chains, threatening national economies. He cited the Russia-Ukraine war and conflict around Iran as examples.
The cooperation between Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia has established peace in the South Caucasus, allowing air traffic between Europe and Asia to transit through a narrow corridor in the region, he said. Energy projects involving the three countries have proceeded without delay, he added, contributing to energy security across a wide geographical area.
Azerbaijan currently exports natural gas to 16 countries. The three nations have also advanced transport and transit cooperation in recent years.
At the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Bayramov told the High-level Meeting of the Global Development Initiative that the South Caucasus is entering a new era of peace and regional cooperation after decades of instability.
He called for cooperation based on international law and respect for sovereignty in the region. He also met with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos and OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu to discuss regional peace and security.
Bayramov emphasized that establishing good neighborly relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan is essential for building a stable, prosperous South Caucasus through full regional normalization.
