Ole Miss defeated No. 7 LSU 32-24 on Sept. 19 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, with No. 9 quarterback Trinidad Chambliss engineering two crucial scoring drives against his former head coach Lane Kiffin.
Chambliss completed 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns, two passing and one rushing. The victory improved Ole Miss to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in SEC play.
With the game tied in the fourth quarter, Chambliss led Ole Miss on a 13-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 14-yard touchdown run with 6:19 remaining. LSU answered with a final drive to the Ole Miss 5-yard line, but Sam Leavitt threw an interception in the end zone on fourth-and-goal.
Chambliss also led a significant scoring drive late in the first half, marching Ole Miss 75 yards in the final 1:55 before halftime and connecting on a 20-yard touchdown pass.
The Ole Miss quarterback did have moments of inefficiency, throwing an interception and taking a 20-yard sack. His interception came on third-and-6 in Ole Miss territory when, under pressure, he threw to Johntay Cook II and was picked off by LSU's Ja'Keem Jackson at the 33-yard line. LSU scored six plays later on a 4-yard Leavitt touchdown run.
LSU fell to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in SEC play.
