The Buffalo Bills will host the Detroit Lions on Thursday, Sept. 17, marking the first regular-season game at Highmark Stadium. The Week 2 matchup kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime Video.
The $2.1 billion venue, which opened this summer, features a natural-grass playing surface and a seating capacity of 60,108. Buffalo announced in May that the Lions would inaugurate the new building as its first regular-season opponent.
Both teams arrive 1-0. The Bills defeated the Houston Texans 36-31 in Week 1, with quarterback Josh Allen throwing two touchdown passes and rushing for two more. The Lions survived an overtime thriller against the New Orleans Saints, 31-30, with Jared Goff connecting with Amon-Ra St. Brown for the winning touchdown after Detroit's 21-point lead evaporated.
Week 1 exposed offensive talent on both sides and defensive gaps. The Bills' pass rush and secondary will face Goff, ranked 11th among NFL quarterbacks heading into the season, and Detroit's receivers in a loud, national television environment. The Lions enter on the road for the first time this season.
OneRepublic will perform the halftime show. Bills Hall of Famer Bruce Smith will be honored as the first Legend of the Game at Highmark. The game will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video and available on NFL Plus.
