The Chicago Bears and running back D'Andre Swift agreed to a three-year, $33.75 million contract extension, keeping him under contract through the 2029 season. The deal includes $27.5 million guaranteed.
Swift signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Bears as a free agent in 2024 and was heading into a contract year in 2026 before the extension.
The 27-year-old led Chicago's ground attack in 2025 with 1,087 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. He caught 34 passes for 299 yards and one touchdown, totaling 1,386 scrimmage yards—both career highs. His 2025 season surpassed his 2023 campaign with Philadelphia, when he earned his only Pro Bowl bid.
Swift started 34 of 35 games over the past two seasons, including playoff contests. He and backfield partner Kyle Monangai helped the Bears rank third in rushing offense, averaging 144.5 yards per game, and second in explosive plays with 127.
General manager Ryan Poles said on Sept. 1: "I think he's done a great job. I love his approach to this offseason. He looks amazing. Second year in the system too." Poles credited running backs coaches Eric Bieniemy and Eric Studesville for Swift's development.
Coach Ben Johnson observed on Aug. 27: "This is the best I've seen him this time of year and you look back a year ago. He was very explosive, and yet it takes a little while to jell between him and the offensive line. I think he's accelerating his vision here at this point. I think he's doing a really good job right now. I think he's primed for a big year."
Swift is the eighth running back to secure a new deal this offseason, following Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson and Jonathan Taylor among others with record-setting agreements.
