PARIS — Arlequin AI, a Paris-based AI firm, closed a €28 million Series A led by redalpine and OTB Ventures, with Bpifrance's Defence Innovation Fund, Vsquared Ventures, 10x Founders, and Xavier Niel participating.

Founded in 2024 by Hugo Micheron and Antoine Jardin, the startup builds systems for organizations analyzing large, fragmented datasets. Micheron studied terrorism and geopolitical instability; Jardin is a former CNRS research engineer focused on data science.

The company's core bet: topological neural networks—an architecture that learns relationships between data points, not just individual data points themselves. The claim is that this approach reduces compute overhead compared to brute-force scaling of large language models.

Micheron said: "Today, another revolution is taking shape: the development of new AI systems capable of understanding highly complex dynamics hidden within millions of data points."

Jardin added that further progress requires different architectures, not merely larger models trained on more data and computing power. By reducing compute requirements, Arlequin aims to cut reliance on energy-intensive infrastructure and advanced semiconductors—a material cost advantage in a market where GPU supply remains constrained.

The platform analyzes relationships across documents, financial transactions, video, and operational data, tracing results back to original evidence. This topology-first approach is already deployed by governments and large organizations across Western and Eastern Europe in security, defense, criminal investigations, fraud detection, and cybersecurity use cases.

Arlequin plans to expand its international team and accelerate commercial deployment. The company has opened offices in London and Berlin and will establish an AI research laboratory in Silicon Valley within coming months.
