CloudNC, a UK-based manufacturing software startup, raised $20 million in a Series B extension on Wednesday, bringing total funding to $128 million. The capital will fuel expansion of CAM Assist, its AI-powered software that automates aspects of Computer Numerical Control machining for industries including automotive, defense and consumer hardware.

CNC machines precisely cut and shape materials, but the setup work—how to hold a part, which tools to use, feed rates and cutting speeds—remains a manual, labor-intensive task for programmers and machinists. CloudNC's software integrates with existing CAM platforms like Autodesk Fusion and Mastercam to automate this "first-pass thinking," generating code that users then review, edit and approve.

"Traditional CAM systems are powerful, but in most workflows, they are still tools that allow programmers to manually specify how a part should be machined," CEO Theo Saville said. CloudNC positions CAM Assist as an "expert assistant sitting alongside the programmer, automating much of the repetitive setup so the human can review, improve and approve."

The distinction matters: CloudNC targets productivity gains for skilled workers, not replacement. With 80 percent of its customer base—over 1,000 machine shops globally—located in the U.S. the company operates with 80 employees.

Nimble Ventures led the B extension. Other backers include Calculus Venture Capital, Entrepreneur First and LM Capital, Lockheed Martin's venture arm. The funding will support go-to-market expansion and development of new products like Quote Agent.
