DOHA — Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, held a telephone call with the United Arab Emirates' Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and address regional developments.
Separately on July 26, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, spoke with Oman's Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During these calls, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tensions. He emphasized implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran that includes provisions for ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international waterway for global trade.
Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar's support for efforts to defuse regional tensions and reach a comprehensive agreement for lasting peace in the region.
