ChargePoint Holdings reported fiscal Q2 revenue of $116 million, beating consensus estimates with an 18 percent year-over-year increase. Shares surged 50 percent on the announcement.
CEO Rick Wilmer told CNBC the stock move represents "the beginning of the momentum," signaling confidence in the company's growth trajectory despite headwinds in the broader EV sector.
The Campbell, California-based company operates a networked charging platform serving commercial customers across retail, workplace, hospitality, healthcare, education, fleet operations and parking infrastructure, as well as residential markets. Revenue is driven by hardware sales, managed charging services, and mobile app adoption.
Wilmer pointed to two catalysts for sustained growth: expansion in Europe and North America, and the recent U.S. launch of Xpress Solo, ChargePoint's first DC fast-charging product engineered to European specifications. The new product is expected to diversify the revenue mix and capture market share in higher-margin DC charging.
ChargePoint trades at a significant premium to the broader market — the S&P 500 gained 1.0 percent on the day — reflecting investor conviction in the company's ability to capitalize on rising EV adoption and charging infrastructure buildout mandates.
