DUBLIN — Irish authorities arrested two men and seized an estimated €2.3 million worth of illegal drugs in Blanchardstown, west Dublin, following an intelligence-led operation on Friday.
An Garda Síochána's Dublin Crime Response Team intercepted a drug handover in a public place and seized approximately 18 kilograms of suspected cocaine, valued at €1.8 million. An additional four kilograms of cocaine, worth €400,000, was recovered from a vehicle at the scene, bringing the total cocaine seizure to 22 kilograms.
Follow-up searches across Dublin recovered 5,000 MDMA tablets, estimated at €50,000, and four kilograms of cannabis herb valued at €56,000.
Two men—one in his 50s and one in his 60s—were arrested during the operation and detained at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region. They were arrested under section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996.
All seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
