Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber hit four home runs and drove in nine RBIs on Aug. 28, 2025, at Citizens Bank Park, becoming only the 21st player in MLB history to achieve the feat in a single game.
Schwarber's nine RBIs set a new single-game franchise record for the Phillies. He joined Hall of Famers Mike Schmidt, Chuck Klein and Ed Delahanty as the fourth player in team history to hit four homers in one game.
The historic night was captured by cameras filming an episode of ABC's "Abbott Elementary" at the stadium. After his third home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, the show's writers revised the script to incorporate Schwarber's performance into the episode.
Following the game, Schwarber returned to the field in his powder blue uniform for the sitcom's cameras. Fans seated in Section 114, many brought in as extras for the shoot, chanted "M-V-P." The production date had been scheduled well in advance of the game.
"Abbott Elementary" creator and star Quinta Brunson is from West Philadelphia. The series, which primarily films in Los Angeles, has a history of on-site shoots in Philadelphia and has featured local sports figures including Flyers mascot Gritty and Eagles players Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce, Jordan Mailata and Brandon Graham.
Schwarber's helmet from the game has been set aside for delivery to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The episode is scheduled to air during season five of "Abbott Elementary," which premieres Oct. 1.
