Bitcoin pulled back to $78,800 after reaching an intraday high of $81,265 on Tuesday, where sellers stepped in near the 50-week moving average at roughly $81,085. That ceiling held, and the token slipped back below $79,000 as traders locked in profits from one of the sharpest weekly runs of the year.

The weekly scorecard remains aggressive. Bitcoin finished the seven-day period up 23 percent. XRP outpaced every major asset, rising nearly 45 percent over the same stretch. Both figures reflect buying that started well below current levels and compressed into a matter of days.

Ether traded near $2,460 and Solana around $97. Every major token dropped over the 24-hour window ending Tuesday except HYPE, Hyperliquid's native token, which bucked the broad pullback. HYPE launched via airdrop on Nov. 29, 2024, and has grown into one of the largest crypto tokens by market cap.

XRP's 45 percent weekly move requires sustained, large-lot demand—not retail momentum alone. The $1.45 price level represents a recovery from lows printed earlier in the month.

Institutional flows explain the recovery mechanically. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs drew $337.56 million in net inflows on Aug. 24 alone. Ether ETFs pulled in $115.57 million the same day. Solana products added $33.49 million and XRP products brought in $13.82 million, showing demand spread across the asset class rather than concentrating in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin ETF assets under management rose to $98.56 billion from $78.67 billion a week earlier—a $19.89 billion increase reflecting both fresh inflows and price appreciation over the period. New money entered these products while prices were rising, not retreating.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs were approved in January 2024 and Ethereum spot ETFs followed in May 2024. The Aug. 24 inflow numbers show the products continue to absorb institutional demand at a pace that materially moves the market. A single day's $337.56 million Bitcoin ETF inflow represents institutional desks deploying capital with conviction.

The 50-week moving average rejection at $81,085 is the technical fact traders are working with now. Bitcoin ran from below levels printed earlier this month to above $81,000 in a compressed window. Rallies that steep tend to find sellers at the first major overhead reference, and the 50-week average is exactly that. The open question is whether the ETF inflow pace holds through the week or fades as prices consolidate.

Solana at $97 and Ether at $2,460 both sit below their recent intraday highs as traders rotated out after the run. The $33.49 million Solana ETF inflow on Aug. 24 shows institutional interest in the asset but at a fraction of the Bitcoin and Ether figures. The gap between Bitcoin's ETF assets—$98.56 billion—and what Solana products hold reflects where institutional allocation currently concentrates.

The Crypto Fear & Greed Index reads 65, in Greed territory. That reading sits in a range historically associated with markets that have already moved and where new buyers are entering on momentum rather than value.

XRP at $1.45 closes a week where it outperformed Bitcoin by roughly 22 percentage points. The token's 45 percent seven-day move is the sharpest in the major-token cohort and the one most likely to attract follow-on institutional product flows if the weekly gains hold into the close.

Bitcoin at $78,800 with $98.56 billion in ETF products and a 50-week average at $81,085 sets up a clear near-term threshold. The market has the institutional infrastructure to push through that level—the Aug. 24 inflow alone was $337.56 million. Whether that demand persists or the pace slows after a 23 percent weekly move is the only question that matters from $79,000.
