Blank Street Coffee is in early-stage discussions to raise more than $100 million, according to sources familiar with the matter. The funding would support expansion into new U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, and could value the café chain at nearly $1 billion—double its $500 million valuation from last year.

The company, founded in 2020 by Vinay Menda and Issam Freiha, started as a single coffee cart in Brooklyn. It now operates across multiple U.S. cities and has grown to more than 40 locations across the United Kingdom, including sites in Scotland, since launching in London in 2022. In 2024, Blank Street reported turnover of nearly £36 million.

Blank Street's growth comes as established competitors face pressure. Starbucks has closed select U.K. locations as part of a broader restructuring, and Coca-Cola abandoned its effort to sell Costa Coffee after failing to secure bids that met its expectations.

The company's most recent funding round closed in May 2025.
