EGO has launched its 1300 Series 30-inch electric lawn mower, targeting property owners with larger acreage and a strategic expansion into a segment traditionally dominated by internal combustion equipment.
The wider 30-inch cutting path addresses completion times on substantial properties—a 2.5-acre lawn, for example—positioning EGO to compete on efficiency with larger gas mowers and moving the brand beyond smaller residential applications.
The mower demonstrated the ability to cut grass up to 10 inches high in a single pass, including in Turbo mode, suggesting EGO's battery and motor technology can match or surpass traditional gas engine torque.
The electric unit operates quietly, produces no exhaust fumes and requires minimal maintenance, contrasting with gas models that demand regular carburetor cleaning and air filter changes. Push-button start, LED headlights and a folding handle for compact storage reduce total cost of ownership and broaden the product's appeal.
The mower integrates into the EGO Power+ line of cordless power tools, reinforcing a platform business model. Batteries are interchangeable across multiple tools, increasing the lifetime value of each customer and raising switching costs.
An earlier 22-inch EGO self-propelled model delivered 11 foot-pounds of motor torque, exceeding many gas push mowers. That engineering baseline likely extends to the 30-inch model.
At over 100 pounds without batteries, the mower is heavy, but its self-propel system—adjustable between roughly one and three mph—offsets the added mass and preserves maneuverability.
EGO's investment in larger, more powerful units reflects a capital allocation strategy aimed at expanding its addressable market as battery-electric outdoor power equipment continues to close the performance gap with gas.
