Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds recorded $853 million in net inflows over the past week, the largest weekly total since April. That number signals renewed institutional appetite for direct Bitcoin exposure through regulated vehicles.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) dominated the buying. Over a three-day stretch, Bitcoin ETFs collectively pulled $626 million in net inflows, with IBIT alone accounting for $479 million.
On Aug. 3, seven Bitcoin ETFs registered net inflows totaling $170.1 million, with no funds reporting outflows. IBIT led the day with $111.4 million. Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Trust (FBTC) followed with $33.4 million, and Franklin Templeton's EZBC added $9.2 million.
Spot Ethereum ETFs told a different story. Fidelity's Ethereum Fund (FETH) posted the largest net outflows among its peers during the same period, a clear split in institutional preference between the two largest digital assets.
Cumulative net inflows for IBIT now approach $61 billion, making it the primary conduit for institutional Bitcoin allocation.
When ETF inflows hold steady without a parallel expansion in derivatives leverage, it points to long-term capital driving the move rather than speculative positioning.
Bitcoin trades at $63,780. The consistent ETF inflows point to demand that could support the price despite a slight dip over the last 24 hours. Ethereum trades at $1,890.
The flow divergence between Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs shows institutions prioritizing Bitcoin. Bitcoin spot ETFs began trading in January 2024; Ethereum spot ETFs followed in May 2024. Both products have become key gauges of regulated capital's appetite for crypto.
