Ravencoin Faces 3-Day Reorg Risk After Consensus Exploit at Block 4,487,776

The Ravencoin network suffered a critical consensus vulnerability exploit at block height 4,487,776 on Aug. 7, 2026, at 15:44:01 UTC, with vulnerable nodes accepting invalid blocks, according to Ravencoin's official network notice.

The exploit created a divergent chain history. Mining pools 2Miners and RavenMiner, which collectively control a majority of the network's hash power, are now building a separate chain starting from block height 4,487,776 that excludes the exploited fork.

If the chain backed by 2Miners and RavenMiner becomes dominant, Ravencoin faces a deep chain reorganization that could roll back roughly three days of transactions, gutting finality for everything confirmed after block height 4,487,775.

Ravencoin has advised centralized exchanges to suspend all RVN deposits and withdrawals to protect users from losses if those transactions reverse during a reorg. Users and exchanges must treat post-block 4,487,775 confirmations as unresolved until a single dominant chain is established.

Ravencoin's network notice said its purpose is to raise risk awareness among users and service providers. Ravencoin explicitly said the notice does not constitute support for any specific rollback or recovery solution, placing the decision on the community and miners.

The coordinated move by 2Miners and RavenMiner is the critical variable here. Their combined hash power can enforce a new canonical chain, effectively erasing the invalid blocks and any transactions built on top of them.

Centralized exchanges suspending deposits and withdrawals kills liquidity and active trading for RVN until the network stabilizes. Every block that passes without a clear dominant chain extends that exposure.
