Mykhailo Mudryk is available for selection in Chelsea's friendly against Juventus in Hong Kong on Wednesday, his first potential appearance since November 2024 following a provisional suspension.
The Ukraine international was cleared last week by the Football Association after an adverse finding for meldonium, a banned substance.
Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso confirmed Mudryk's availability. "Yes, he could play," Alonso said. "Maybe 90 minutes it's too early, but he can be selected. He's selected, so he can play."
Mudryk trained Tuesday, arriving directly from the airport to the team hotel, with the focus on assessing his fitness and reintegration with the squad. He also trained Monday, and Chelsea filmed him pointing to the club badge before the session.
During an open training session at Kai Tak Stadium, Mudryk received a large cheer. He warmed up with the wider group, then participated in possession drills and playfully wrestled with defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
New coach Austin MacPhee, who joined from Aston Villa, led a set-piece session involving Mudryk. Mudryk then worked with Alonso in a second drill, focusing on attacking patterns as one of two left-sided wingers.
Chelsea officials are open to considering loan proposals for Mudryk, with the goal of getting him regular minutes after his extended absence.
Several clubs have approached Mudryk's representatives, with Italian clubs showing strong interest. Strasbourg, a sister club under the same American ownership group as Chelsea, is also an option, with Chelsea reportedly considering a loan move there to help Mudryk rebuild in France.
Mudryk's preference, however, is a loan to a Premier League club. Coventry City is among three Premier League clubs that have already approached Chelsea for the winger.
Chelsea kept close tabs on Mudryk physically and mentally throughout his suspension, with teammates maintaining contact and offering encouragement during his absence.
Mudryk focused on maintaining consistency and intensity during his ban, hiring a private coach and booking goalkeepers and outfield players to train against at Honeycroft Stadium, home of a seventh-tier club.
