Dominique Malonga delivered a dominant performance for the Seattle Storm on Monday, Aug. 11, finishing with 26 points and 10 rebounds to power a 97-88 victory over the Chicago Sky and end the team's 11-game losing streak.
Malonga played 30 minutes, shooting nine of 14 from the field. She made three of four attempts from beyond the arc and converted five of seven free throws. Her three three-pointers marked a career high.
The second-year center led the Storm in points, rebounds and blocks. She also matched the team high in steals.
On the defensive end, Malonga registered three blocks and two steals — her third consecutive game with multiple combined steals and blocks.
The game was Malonga's 10th double-double of the season. She has recorded three double-doubles in her last five outings, scoring at least 16 points in each.
Natisha Hiedeman also contributed to Seattle's win, adding 18 points and nine assists.
Malonga's output tied for the game high in scoring.
The performance extended a strong recent run. She posted 21 points and nine rebounds in 28 minutes during the Storm's 100-93 loss to Portland on Saturday.
Before that, she registered 31 points and 10 rebounds in 30 minutes against the New York Liberty on Wednesday — a 92-86 loss that marked her second game this season scoring 30 or more points.
Malonga carries season averages of 17.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. She has surpassed the 20-point mark in five of her 13 appearances since the start of July.
