The device delivers over 34 hours of battery life on a single charge. That endurance, drawn from a 59Whr battery, holds up under typical mixed workloads and sets the OmniBook 5 apart from most x86-based competitors.
The 14-inch 1,920-by-1,200-pixel OLED display offers deep blacks and strong color contrast. Laptops with OLED panels typically sell for more than $1,000, making HP's inclusion of the feature at $700 a direct challenge to midrange display expectations.
HP designates Snapdragon X-based models as "Next Gen AI PC" laptops. The eight-core Snapdragon X Plus chip is power-efficient but can feel sluggish when switching between many open applications. Copilot AI features also showed significant battery drain with limited practical benefit.

The 65 percent keyboard layout provides clear, forceful feedback and good key travel. The up and down arrow keys are half-height. The mechanical trackpad functions adequately but produces an audible tick on each click.
Speaker quality is poor, another cost-saving tradeoff in a device built around display quality and battery life.
