Hyperliquid's open interest in real-world assets reached an all-time high of $3.6 billion this week, according to platform data, with digital gold products hitting their own record peak in the process. Total open interest on the decentralized perpetual futures platform reached $11 billion for 2026, its highest level this year.
Digital gold products trade on Hyperliquid's permissionless HIP-3 markets, where open interest across all HIP-3 listings has exceeded $4 billion. The mechanism allows assets to be listed and traded without centralized gatekeepers.
Tokenized equities on Hyperliquid previously reached approximately $2.5 billion in open interest, adding to the RWA category's expansion alongside the gold products.
Hyperliquid operates as a purpose-built Layer 1 blockchain with a BFT consensus architecture, optimized for high-performance perpetual futures across both crypto and RWA markets.
On-chain gold products derive their value from underlying physical gold reserves held by issuers, giving traders exposure to gold price movements without physical custody constraints or traditional market hours. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index sat at 29 at time of publication, a reading in fear territory, as capital has rotated toward assets with lower correlation to crypto volatility.
Hyperliquid's native HYPE token, launched via airdrop in Nov. 2024, accrues utility from increased trading volume and total value locked across the platform, including the growing RWA segment.
