Chelsea Gray delivered two buzzer-beating 3-pointers Thursday night to carry the Las Vegas Aces past the Indiana Fever 86-84 in overtime in Indianapolis.
Clark missed two free throws with seven seconds left in regulation, with Indiana holding a three-point lead. She then lost the ball with seven seconds remaining in overtime, when the Fever led by one. Clark finished with 20 points, eight assists and eight turnovers.
A'ja Wilson led Las Vegas with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Wilson's defensive stop against Clark set up Gray's game-winning shot in overtime. Jackie Young contributed 22 points, including a franchise-record 15 consecutive points spanning the end of the first half and the start of the second.
Gray's first buzzer-beater forced overtime after Indiana led 75-72. Her second erased an 84-83 deficit in the extra period. Both shots were reviewed and confirmed as valid.
The Aces overcame a 20-point first-half deficit, trailing 42-22 before closing the half on a 15-0 run to cut it to 42-37. Young's scoring surge gave Las Vegas a 44-42 lead early in the second half.
Clark accepted responsibility for the loss. She said her eight turnovers and two missed free throws cannot happen and called the missed free throws frustrating, saying one would have given Indiana a two-possession lead.
Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 28 points. Mitchell also missed a late free throw in regulation before Clark's misses. Aliyah Boston added 21 points and 12 rebounds for Indiana.
The victory gave the Aces a win in the three-game season series against the Fever. Gray credited Young and Wilson for setting up her clutch shots.
An incident briefly stopped play at 4:38 of the third quarter. Security escorted a woman from a front-row seat opposite the Aces' bench. She returned minutes later, but two men seated nearby were removed. The Fever said one fan was removed but then elected not to return after no policy violation was determined. Young said someone had been "chirping" all night and had crossed a line but did not elaborate on what was said.
