TORONTO — Andrés Giménez drove in Kazuma Okamoto with an RBI single in the eighth inning Aug. 7, extending the Toronto Blue Jays' lead to 7-0 against the Athletics.

Earlier in the same game, Giménez hit a home run in the fifth inning off Athletics pitcher Payton Tolle, following a blast from teammate Davis Schneider, to put Toronto ahead 3-0.

Giménez had been held out of the starting lineup Sunday against the Yankees with a sore wrist. The two-game outburst suggests he is past it.

His hot stretch began Saturday, when he recorded four hits in the Blue Jays' 8-7 victory over the Athletics.

On Thursday, Giménez homered for the Blue Jays' only run off Orioles pitcher Chris Bassitt. Toronto won 2-1, with Yohendrick Piñango drawing a bases-loaded walk to score George Springer.
