LIV Golf has secured a deal with a lead investor, CEO Scott O'Neil said, providing the financial backing the circuit needs to continue operations beyond 2026.
The agreement has been signed by the investor and approved by LIV Golf's board. The deal is expected to close in September.
The funding comes after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund said in April it would end its financial support for LIV Golf at the close of 2026. That announcement had raised serious questions about the league's long-term survival.
Under a planned "LIV Golf 2.0" structure, players will become majority equity holders in the organization—a model the league says is designed to be driven by and for the players.
Beyond the lead investor, LIV Golf has also drawn interest from parties exploring minority investments in the circuit.
The identity of the lead investor has not been disclosed, and specific terms of the investment have not been released.
