MADISON, Wis. — Francesca Hong, the likely Democratic nominee for governor in Wisconsin, is walking back a 2021 social media post in which she wrote, "Cancel Thanksgiving. Should have done this in 1621."
Hong's campaign told Fox News Digital she does not want to cancel Thanksgiving — a direct reversal of her three-year-old post.
Hong told Politico's Irie Sentner that Thanksgiving is her "favorite holiday" and that she does not want to cancel it.
In a separate interview with CNN's Kaitlan Collins, Hong addressed the deleted post and said her views can evolve over time.
Hong is backed by the Democratic Socialists of America and sits in the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. The resurfaced post has become a line of attack for political opponents as she campaigns for the governorship.
