A 70-year-old man was attacked inside a Tucson fast-food restaurant when a 34-year-old suspect knocked him to the ground and tried to steal his backpack. Two bystanders stepped in immediately, stopping the theft. The suspect had also knocked the victim's walker to the ground during the assault.
Tucson police officers arrived quickly and arrested the 34-year-old suspect within minutes. He now faces charges of attempted robbery.
The victim was treated for injuries at the scene. Police said the bystanders' quick action was critical in stopping the crime and preventing further harm.
The Pima County Attorney's Office will handle prosecution of the case.
