Hodge addresses an immediate need at wide receiver. The 49ers have dealt with mounting injuries at the position during training camp, and Hodge gives them a healthy veteran option in the receiving corps.
Hodge entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and spent four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, catching 37 passes for 596 yards and two touchdowns in 63 games.
Okoronkwo arrives as a veteran pass rusher, adding depth to a defensive line that needed reinforcement. Both he and Hodge have previous ties to coach Raheem Morris, a factor that suggests a smooth fit within San Francisco's schemes.
