Penske Media Corp. sister brands The Hollywood Reporter and Sportico will launch a new video franchise, "THR's Game Recognize Game." The multi-episode series debuts Aug. 26 alongside "The Sports Issue" from both publications, pairing top Hollywood talent with athletes for candid conversations.

The program explores fame, ambition and cultural influence, covering shared pressures and rewards across entertainment and sports. Topics include fandom, finances, family dynamics and the cost of success.

The first episode features two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and Jaylen Brown. A second episode brings together Belmont Cameli, known for "Off Campus," and NHL forward Macklin Celebrini. Additional pairings are scheduled for release this fall.

Brown spent a decade as a franchise cornerstone for the Boston Celtics, leading them to the 2024 NBA championship and earning Finals MVP honors. He has since joined the Philadelphia 76ers.

Beyond basketball, Brown has lectured at Harvard and served as a fellow at the MIT Media Lab. He also runs the nonprofit 7uice Foundation.

Ali earned Academy Awards for his roles in "Moonlight" and "Green Book." His other credits include "Leave the World Behind," "Swan Song" and "True Detective." Ali will next appear in the action thriller "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother," which premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival, and joins the second season of HBO's "Task."

Before his acting career, Ali played Division I basketball at Saint Mary's on a full scholarship.

Macklin Celebrini, 20, plays for the San Jose Sharks. He was the No. 1 overall draft pick and set a franchise scoring record in his second season. He is the NHL's newest highest-paid player.

Belmont Cameli rose to prominence as Garrett Graham in Prime Video's "Off Campus." He also appeared in Peacock's "Saved by the Bell" reboot and Netflix's "Along for the Ride."

The series also covers personal branding, motivation and future goals. Guests will discuss personal splurges and reveal lesser-known talents.

Sportico Editor-in-Chief Scott Soshnick said sports represent an entertainment juggernaut, creative industry partnerships shape culture, and this is an ideal moment to highlight the connection between athletes and actors.

David Katz, editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter, said the relationship between Hollywood and professional sports extends beyond celebrity fans or athlete cameos. Actors now own teams, athletes establish studios, and each industry increasingly influences the other, he said. Katz said this is the right time for top figures to share their experiences.

Penske Media Corporation owns both Sportico and The Hollywood Reporter.
