Macdonald sees the appearance as an opportunity to present the Seahawks' story to the football-watching world in a positive light. He has instructed his players to be themselves in front of the cameras, expressing confidence the production will accurately capture the team's culture.
Macdonald has built a team environment centered on "Mission Over Bulls**t," or MOB—a philosophy that pushes players to focus on what they can control and tune out outside noise.
"I told the guys they are going to capture what we do, and they do a great job of doing that," Macdonald said.
The crew's presence was evident at training camp. Dozens of cameras were positioned across the practice field alongside boom microphones, and crew members followed specific players—including quarterback Sam Darnold—as they took the field. Despite the extensive setup, Macdonald said the crew generally stays out of the way and works to minimize impact on players' daily routines.
For a team in its first year under Macdonald, the series gives the Seahawks a platform to define their identity early in his tenure. Macdonald is using the spotlight to reinforce his internal message rather than avoid it—a confident move for a first-year head coach.
The New England Patriots are slated for the 2027 summer edition of "Hard Knocks."
