Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jesus Luzardo secured his 10th win of the season against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, bringing his record to 10-5.
Luzardo allowed three runs on five hits, issued no walks and struck out seven. He surrendered a pair of early home runs but pitched four perfect frames after that, allowing the Phillies to hold on for the win.
Earlier in the season, Luzardo dominated the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, throwing seven scoreless innings in a 1-0 Phillies victory. He allowed only two hits and two walks while striking out 11. That win secured a three-game series victory for Philadelphia.
Luzardo also started against the Toronto Blue Jays, delivering 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts and four walks in a 7-4 Phillies win. Max Scherzer started for Toronto. After that outing, Luzardo said, "It was good and bad."
Luzardo received a contract extension in March and was named a 2026 All-Star.
His career includes 18 starts in 2022, matching a prior career high. He missed 71 games from May 10 to Aug. that year due to injury. He made his 2023 debut on March 31 against the New York Mets, earning the first Marlins win of the season with 5.2 scoreless innings, two hits, four walks and five strikeouts.
