Kahleah Copper Torches Chicago for 31, Fuels Phoenix Mercury's Two-Game Surge

Kahleah Copper scored 31 points, hit four three-pointers and poured in 15 of those points in the fourth quarter to lead the Phoenix Mercury past the Chicago Sky 106-101 on Monday night.

Copper scored 20 of her 31 points after halftime, providing the offensive backbone as the Mercury closed out the Sky on the road.

Kelsey Plum made her Phoenix debut in the same contest, contributing 20 points and immediately giving the Mercury a second scoring option alongside Cop. On Wednesday, Phoenix defeated the Golden State Valkyries 91-89 in both teams' first game back from the All-Star break. The Mercury erased a 13-point deficit to win, with Copper again leading the way with 27 points.

Copper also led Phoenix with 16 points and three rebounds in a July 8 game against Chicago. Her consistent scoring across multiple contests has made her the focal point of the Mercury's offense.

With Copper locked in and Plum now in the fold, Phoenix has a legitimate one-two punch that can carry a game-winning run or dig out of a double-digit hole. These two wins prove it.
