LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies arrested Jeanine John Taele, 38, at President Donald Trump's golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, after observing him photograph and examine security measures at the site.
Deputies spotted Taele Sunday around 3:30 p.m. snapping photos and surveying the grounds at Trump National Golf Course. Authorities announced the arrest Monday, ahead of Trump's scheduled Tuesday evening arrival for a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner.
Taele was carrying a concealed firearm and armor-piercing ammunition when deputies took him into custody.
Officers searched his home Monday and found additional firearms, magazines, ammunition and body armor. They also seized notebooks containing what authorities described as concerning statements.
Taele faces charges of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of armor-piercing ammunition. He remained in custody as of the announcement.
The fundraising dinner at the golf course proceeded as planned despite the arrest. Authorities have not released details about Taele's suspected motives or the specific contents of the notebooks.
