The United States produced a record 13.6 million barrels of crude oil per day in 2025, according to Energy Secretary Chris Wright and the Department of Energy.

The Trump administration attributes the surge to its deregulation policies aimed at expanding oil and natural gas extraction, saying lower energy costs will follow for American families and businesses.

Wright traveled to Hobbs, New Mexico, where he highlighted the state's position as the nation's second-largest oil producer and argued it has room for further expansion. He framed the record production as aligned with President Trump's broader push to maximize domestic energy output.

The Energy Department issued a fact sheet titled "Delivering On U.S. Oil And Natural Gas Production" to underscore the administration's commitment to sustaining and increasing output.
