Algorand recorded the third-largest weekly increase in euro-pegged stablecoin market capitalization, adding $840,800 to its on-chain euro reserves in the week ending Aug. 22. The broader euro stablecoin sector expanded by approximately $17 million during the same period.

The collective market cap for euro stablecoins reached nearly $674 million by mid-2026, marking a 128 percent year-over-year increase. The European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework has established a clear rulebook for issuing and managing stablecoins within the EU, providing certainty for euro-denominated token issuers and facilitating broader activity across blockchain networks.

On Algorand, Quantoz EURQ dominates the euro stablecoin landscape with approximately $768,000 in market cap. Stasis Euro (EURS) holds roughly $78,000, and Monerium EURE accounts for approximately $6,000. Nearly all of Algorand's weekly $840,800 inflow concentrated into Quantoz EURQ, reflecting capital concentration toward a regulated issuer.

Algorand's total stablecoin market cap stands at roughly $34.4 million, with USDC representing the majority. The chain's stablecoin footprint accounts for approximately 0.01 percent of the global $308 billion stablecoin market.

The inflows reflect a wider trend where chains supporting compliant euro tokens through partnerships with regulated issuers like Quantoz are seeing increased on-chain liquidity, benefiting European users and institutions seeking regulated digital euro access.

Algorand's $34.4 million stablecoin base positions it against chains with substantially larger liquidity pools and more developed DeFi ecosystems. The chain's sustained growth will depend on attracting additional euro stablecoin issuers and deepening euro trading pair liquidity.
