President Donald Trump met with cryptocurrency executives, lobbyists, and federal regulators at the White House on Wednesday, pressing Congress to pass major digital asset legislation.

Many of the companies represented at the session maintain business relationships with the president's own crypto ventures or those of his son, Donald Trump Jr. These firms have contributed millions of dollars to Trump's political committees, including the Trump-Vance inaugural committee, the MAGA Inc. super PAC, and the White House ballroom project.

Coinbase Chief Executive Brian Armstrong attended and spoke alongside Trump during the meeting. The president voiced strong support for the industry, which has generated substantial wealth for his family.

Trump used the gathering to call on Congress to pass digital asset market structure legislation, a key priority for the industry. He touted U.S. leadership in both cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence, asserting his administration's commitment to maintaining that position.

The push for new laws comes as the crypto sector seeks greater legitimacy and clearer regulatory frameworks. Such legislation, if passed, would define how digital assets are classified and regulated across federal agencies.

The White House meeting took place ahead of the inaugural session Thursday of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Innovation Advisory Committee, a 35-member panel that includes prominent crypto figures and representatives from prediction market companies, some of which have financial connections to Donald Trump Jr.
