A U.S. Marshals task force serving an arrest warrant in Missouri on July 21 crashed through a second-floor wooden deck, sending nine officers to the ground. Bodycam video shows the structure collapsing without warning as the team approached the target's apartment.

The operation targeted Jacob Alexander Munoz, 26, a convicted sex offender wanted for failing to register as required by law. Munoz was not taken into custody at the collapse scene but was apprehended later that same day.

All nine injured officers—a mix of U.S. deputy marshals and local police—were reported to be doing well following the incident, according to officials.

The warrant was part of Operation Adam's Watch, a federal initiative targeting sex offenders who have severed contact with registration authorities. Failure to register is a federal offense under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, which requires offenders to update their information with state and local authorities at regular intervals based on their classification tier.

Deputy U.S. marshals train for high-risk scenarios including gunfire and physical resistance, but structural failures of the kind captured in the Missouri footage fall outside the standard threat profile.
